COMPETITION – 1ST PRIZE | 2008

This building, along with the new Primary Care Centre, completes the series of nine buildings that constitute the Pere Virgili Healthcare Campus. Most of the buildings in the Campus are of a compact nature, have a rectangular shape, and are placed one parallel to the other. Only the building called Mestral and the new Primary Care Centre are built outside the general grid.

Placed between the buildings Mestral and Tramuntana, the new Day Care Centre is designed to fit coherently in the existing mesh. However, some changes to the master plan have been implemented in order to lighten up the building, maximize the flooding of the building with day light and maximize the views of the external landscaped areas from the interior. All of this is accomplished thanks to the introduction of two courtyards which penetrate the building.
